Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Buildplate Studio (“Buildplate Studio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use Buildplate Studio (formerly Print Studio; the “Service”), our commercial design and export platform for makers, print shops, and creators. It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions.
1. Who We Are
Buildplate Studio provides browser-based tools to design, customize, preview, and export 3D-printable products for personal evaluation and, with paid access, commercial and enterprise use. This Policy applies to individuals and to business users who use the Service on behalf of a shop, studio, or organization.
2. Information We Collect
We may collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — email address, display name, authentication credentials or OAuth identifiers (for example Google sign-in or Patreon OAuth), and account metadata.
- Business / billing information — subscription, license, or Patreon entitlement status, plan type, renewal or expiration dates, checkout identifiers, and related commercial records. Payment card details are processed by our payment providers (such as Lemon Squeezy and PayMongo); we do not store full card numbers in the Service.
- Patreon membership — when you Continue with Patreon we receive via OAuth: Patreon user id, display name, and tier/entitlement status. We store a signed httpOnly session cookie so paid-member access works. We may store refresh tokens server-side (service-role only) to re-check entitlement. We do not store your Patreon password.
- Usage and product data — designers and features you use, export events, trial credit usage, presets, templates, color palettes, feature-flag entitlements, and similar operational logs needed to run a commercial SaaS product.
- Device and security signals — browser or device fingerprint hashes, approximate device/browser characteristics, IP address, and related signals used to enforce free-trial limits, prevent abuse, and protect accounts.
- Content you provide — text, SVGs, images, design settings, feedback, ratings, and contact messages you submit. Uploads are processed as needed to display, export, or support your designs.
- Communications — messages you send via in-app contact/feedback forms, email, or Messenger, and our responses.
- Technical and analytics data — pages viewed, performance and error events, approximate location derived from IP (where available), and similar diagnostics from hosting and analytics providers.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide, operate, secure, and improve Buildplate Studio as a commercial service;
- authenticate users, manage subscriptions, licenses, exclusive-designer purchases, and free-trial entitlements;
- verify paid Patreon membership and entitlement for export access and show eligibility (including when a pledge is not paid or otherwise ineligible);
- enforce plan limits and our Terms, including detecting and preventing multi-account abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access;
- process exports and cloud-synced preferences (such as presets and palettes) associated with your account;
- communicate about your account, billing, security, product updates, and support requests;
- analyze product usage and reliability to improve designers and performance;
- comply with legal obligations and protect our rights and customers.
We do not use your private design content for unrelated marketing campaigns. Aggregated or de-identified insights may be used to improve the Service.
4. Legal Bases (Where Applicable)
Depending on your location, we process personal data because it is necessary to perform our contract with you (providing the Service), because we have a legitimate interest in operating a secure commercial platform and preventing abuse, because you have consented (where consent is required), and/or to comply with legal obligations.
5. Sharing and Service Providers
We share information with trusted processors only as needed to run the Service, for example:
- Infrastructure & auth — hosting and database/auth providers (such as Vercel and Supabase);
- Payments — payment and subscription processors (such as Lemon Squeezy and PayMongo);
- Patreon — membership OAuth and entitlement checks (Patreon’s privacy policy applies to your Patreon account);
- Analytics & diagnostics — tools that help us understand usage and errors (such as Vercel Analytics);
- Communications — email or messaging providers used for support and transactional notices (such as Cloudflare Email Sending), and channels you choose to contact us on;
- Optional geo / network lookups — providers that help resolve approximate country from IP for operations or abuse prevention, where enabled.
These providers process data under their own privacy terms and our instructions where applicable. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the Service or users, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or asset transfer.
6. Cookies, Local Storage, and Similar Technologies
The Service uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for authentication, session continuity, saving designer settings, remembering preferences, analytics, and security (including trial/device enforcement). After Continue with Patreon, we set a signed httpOnly Patreon session cookie so paid-member access works. We may also store optional client flags (for example, a dismissed Patreon banner). You can control some of these through your browser settings; disabling them may limit functionality.
7. Retention
We retain account, billing, usage, security, and support records for as long as needed to provide the Service, enforce our Terms, resolve disputes, meet legal/accounting requirements, and maintain security. Trial and fingerprint records may be kept to prevent abuse. Patreon session cookies last until they expire or you sign out of Patreon in the app; server-side Patreon account and refresh records may be kept to re-verify entitlement and prevent abuse. You may request deletion of account data subject to legal retention needs and legitimate security interests.
8. Security
We use commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your login credentials and for access by people you authorize under a business account.
9. International Transfers
We and our providers may process and store information in multiple countries. Where data is transferred across borders, we take steps designed to provide appropriate protections consistent with applicable law.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request. Business customers may also request updates to account or billing contacts associated with their organization.
Signing out (including clearing the Patreon session) clears the Patreon cookie. This is useful after changing tiers so you can Continue with Patreon again. Patreon account data is controlled by Patreon.
11. Children
Buildplate Studio is a commercial product directed to adults and businesses. It is not directed at children under 13 (or the higher age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product, legal, or business changes. We will revise the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
13. Contact
For privacy-related questions or requests, contact Buildplate Studio via our contact form , email support@buildplate.studio , or the contact options provided in the app.
