Terms and Conditions
Last updated: October 23, 2026
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern access to and use of Buildplate Studio (formerly Print Studio, at buildplate.studio), a commercial design and export platform (“Buildplate Studio,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms on behalf of yourself and, if applicable, the business or organization you represent.
1. Parties and Acceptance
“You” means the individual using the Service and, where you use the Service for a shop, studio, company, or other commercial entity, that entity as well. If you accept these Terms on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
Buildplate Studio is offered as a commercial / enterprise-oriented software service for makers, print shops, and creators who design and export 3D-printable products. Free evaluation access may be available; commercial production use requires paid access as described below.
2. The Service
Buildplate Studio provides browser-based tools to create, customize, preview, and export 3D-printable designs (including but not limited to keychains, name tags, toppers, charms, and related products) in formats such as STL and 3MF for slicing and manufacturing.
The Service may include Standard and Pro designers available under your plan, exclusive or premium designers, templates, presets, cloud-synced settings, and related features. Feature availability depends on your account status (free trial, subscription, paid license, paid Patreon membership, one-time purchase, or other paid entitlement). We may add, modify, or discontinue designers and features as part of ongoing product development.
The Service is software and design tooling only. Buildplate Studio does not manufacture, ship, or sell physical prints unless separately agreed in writing. You are solely responsible for printing, materials, safety, quality control, fulfillment, customer service, and compliance with laws applicable to your products and business.
3. Accounts and Authorized Use
Certain features require an account. You must provide accurate registration information and keep credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account, including use by employees, contractors, or other authorized users of your business.
Unless your plan expressly allows multi-seat or team access, each paid subscription or license is for the named account holder (and reasonable internal use by that person for their business). You may not resell, rent, sublicense, or publicly share login credentials to provide the Service to third parties as a substitute for their own paid access.
We may use technical measures (including device or browser fingerprints, usage limits, and fraud signals) to protect the Service and enforce plan limits.
Access may also be granted via Continue with Patreon (an OAuth session cookie) without creating a Buildplate Studio email/password account. Patreon-only sessions must still follow these Terms for use of the Service and exports. Cloud features that require a Buildplate Studio account (for example, Settings presets) may remain unavailable until you sign in with an account.
4. Plans, Pricing, and Purchases
Current commercial offerings—including monthly or yearly subscriptions, paid Patreon membership as a parallel paid-access path, legacy or promotional license codes, free-trial allowances, and any one-time purchases—are described in the app under Pricing and/or at checkout. Payments are processed by third-party providers (for example, Lemon Squeezy and PayMongo for QR Ph license purchase) or other channels we designate. We do not store your full payment card details in the Service.
Standard and Pro. Paid access comes in two levels. Standard covers every designer except those marked Pro. Pro adds the Pro designers listed on the Pricing page, which may change as designers are added. Both levels include the commercial license in Section 6. Moving a license from Standard to Pro starts Pro right away and takes the value of the remaining Standard time off the Pro price shown at checkout (any value beyond that price is added as extra Pro time); a Pro license cannot be converted back to Standard while it is active. Upgrading a subscription from Standard to Pro takes effect immediately and charges the prorated difference for the rest of the current billing period. Patreon tiers map to a level: Maker is Standard and Shop Maker is Pro.
Patreon membership. Free Patreon followers are not entitled to paid access. Only paid or otherwise entitled Patreon members unlock access through Continue with Patreon (see our Patreon page ). The Shop Maker tier counts as Pro and includes the Pro designers; other paid tiers get Standard. Patreon billing is handled by Patreon; we do not store your Patreon password or card details. Membership-specific commercial rules are described in Section 7.
Price and plan changes. Buildplate Studio may change prices, plan features, free-trial limits, designer catalogs, and commercial packaging at any time. We will reflect material changes on the Pricing page, at checkout, and/or in these Terms. Changes generally apply to new purchases and renewals and do not retroactively alter amounts already paid for a completed billing period, unless required by law or stated at checkout.
One-time / exclusive designer purchases. We may offer one-time purchases for exclusive designers or other premium capabilities, separately from or in addition to a subscription. A one-time purchase grants access only to the designer(s) or feature(s) described at purchase, under the license terms shown at checkout. It does not automatically include platform-wide unlimited exports, all designers, or broader commercial rights beyond what that purchase expressly includes. Availability, pricing, and scope of exclusive designers may change over time.
Refunds and chargebacks. Refund eligibility is governed by these Terms, our refund policy (if published), and our payment provider’s rules. Extended maintenance or documented service failures may support a refund request at our discretion. Abusive chargebacks or payment disputes may result in suspension of access.
5. Free Trial (Evaluation Only — No Commercial License)
If we provide a free trial or evaluation credits, that access is for personal evaluation and non-commercial testing only. A free trial does not include a commercial or enterprise license.
Without paid access, you may not use free-trial exports for commercial purposes, including selling physical prints, fulfilling client or customer orders, operating a print shop or marketplace listing, or otherwise using exports in connection with a business or revenue-generating activity.
Free trials may be limited by export credits, designer availability, and device limits (including a maximum number of trial accounts per device or browser fingerprint). Creating multiple accounts, using disposable emails, or otherwise circumventing trial limits is prohibited.
6. Commercial and Enterprise License (Paid Access)
While you maintain an active paid subscription, valid paid license, active entitled paid Patreon membership, or other paid entitlement that expressly includes commercial rights, and subject to these Terms and any plan-specific limits, Buildplate Studio grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- use Buildplate Studio designers and tools included in your plan to create and export designs;
- manufacture physical products from those exports for your personal or commercial business use (including sale of finished prints you produce);
- use exports in client work when you are fulfilling orders as a print shop, maker, or similar commercial operator.
This license does not allow you to: (a) sell, redistribute, or publicly share the Service’s software, designers, source assets, fonts, or templates as a competing design tool; (b) claim ownership of Buildplate Studio branding, UI, or designer systems; (c) remove proprietary notices; or (d) use the Service after your paid access expires, cancels, or is revoked.
When paid access ends, commercial rights under that plan end. Continued commercial use requires renewing or obtaining a valid paid entitlement. Exports you lawfully created while paid access was active may continue to be used for manufacturing subject to these Terms and applicable IP law, except where access was obtained or used fraudulently or in violation of these Terms.
Enterprise, multi-seat, white-label, API, or custom commercial arrangements (if offered) require a separate written agreement with Buildplate Studio. Absent such an agreement, these Terms and your then-current plan controls.
7. Patreon Membership
Buildplate Studio may unlock full export and designer access when you Continue with Patreon as a paid or otherwise entitled Patreon member. Free Patreon followers are not entitled. Membership details and pledges are managed on Patreon .
Commercial license while entitled. While your Patreon membership is active and entitled, you hold the same limited commercial license described in Section 6—including the right to use designers, export designs, and manufacture or sell physical prints you produce—subject to these Terms, including the prohibition on redistributing the Service’s software, designers, or digital source as a competing tool.
That Patreon commercial license is valid only while the membership remains active and entitled. It is tied to live entitlement, not merely to having exported designs in the past.
When the pledge ends, is cancelled, is refunded, or you are otherwise no longer entitled, commercial rights for designs and exports obtained through Patreon membership end at the same time, including files you already exported. You may not continue selling or manufacturing for sale those Patreon-obtained exports after entitlement stops.
Personal, non-commercial use of copies you already exported may continue after membership ends. New exports and re-unlocks require active entitled membership (or another paid access path described in these Terms).
Lemon Squeezy subscriptions, PayMongo and legacy licenses, and one-time purchases are separate paid paths. They do not receive this Patreon-specific commercial-duration rule unless access was obtained via Patreon. Section 6’s general commercial-license language continues to govern non-Patreon paid access.
8. Intellectual Property
Buildplate Studio IP. The Service—including software, designers, geometry systems, UI, branding, documentation, and related materials—is owned by Buildplate Studio and its licensors. No rights are granted except as expressly stated in these Terms.
Your content. Subject to Buildplate Studio’s rights in the Service, you retain rights in original text, images, SVGs, and other content you submit. You grant Buildplate Studio a worldwide, non-exclusive license to host, process, transmit, and display that content solely as needed to operate and improve the Service.
Third-party rights. You are solely responsible for ensuring that names, logos, characters, trademarks, copyrighted works, or other third-party IP you incorporate into designs are used lawfully (including any required licenses or permissions). Buildplate Studio does not clear third-party IP for your commercial products.
9. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for illegal, infringing, defamatory, deceptive, or harmful purposes;
- reverse-engineer, scrape, overload, disrupt, or attempt unauthorized access to the Service or related systems;
- bypass, disable, or abuse free-trial limits, paywalls, device limits, feature flags, or security controls;
- create or use multiple accounts, disposable emails, shared devices, bots, or other means to obtain unauthorized free or paid access;
- share, lease, or resell account access in a manner that substitutes for separate paid accounts required by these Terms;
- misrepresent your affiliation with Buildplate Studio or use our marks in a misleading way.
10. Monitoring, Suspension, and Revocation
Buildplate Studio may monitor accounts and devices for suspicious, abusive, or fraudulent activity to protect the Service and legitimate customers. We may, at our sole discretion and without prior notice where reasonably necessary, suspend, restrict, or permanently revoke access to the Service—including free trial, subscription, license, exclusive-designer, or one-time purchase access—and/or block related email addresses or device fingerprints when we believe activity violates these Terms or poses a risk to the Service, payments, or other users.
Examples include (without limitation): multi-account free-trial farming; circumventing trial or device caps; payment or chargeback abuse; unauthorized sharing of paid access; or other patterns that appear abusive or fraudulent. Paid or enterprise access does not guarantee continued use if obtained or used in violation of these Terms. Refunds or cancellations related to revoked access are handled under applicable law and payment-provider policies and are not guaranteed.
If you believe your account or device was restricted in error, contact us using the channels in Section 16.
11. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUILDPLATE STUDIO DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation, or that exports will be suitable for any specific printer, material, slicer, or commercial order. You are responsible for validating designs before manufacturing or sale.
12. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUILDPLATE STUDIO AND ITS OWNERS, AFFILIATES, AND SUPPLIERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO BUILDPLATE STUDIO FOR THE SERVICE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM (OR, IF GREATER AND REQUIRED BY LAW, THE MINIMUM AMOUNT THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED).
13. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Buildplate Studio and its owners, affiliates, and personnel from and against claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Service or exports; (b) your products, sales, or customer dealings; (c) your content or alleged infringement of third-party rights; or (d) your breach of these Terms.
14. Privacy
Our collection and use of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement to use the Service.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect product, pricing, legal, or business changes. We will update the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and cancel any paid plan according to the applicable cancellation process.
16. Contact
For questions about these Terms, commercial licensing, exclusive designers, or account access issues, contact Buildplate Studio via our contact form , email support@buildplate.studio , or the contact options provided in the app.
17. General
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Buildplate Studio regarding the Service, except for any separate written enterprise or custom license agreement. If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our prior consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Headings are for convenience only.
